Manager, Procurement

Candidate will play an integral role supporting the Vendor Management Program to ensure effective, appropriate, and timely actions are taken to protect PPD’s reputation and business objections against the risks associated with outsourced services. This position will engage with various departments within PPD to facilitate vendor due diligence activities and respond to inquiries on the vendor management process.

  • Interface with internal and external auditors to coordinate clear and concise vendor management overviews, responses, and assist with remediation plans

  • Build and maintain detailed knowledge of business process and systems to effectively manage vendor risk

  • Assist in the continued development and deployment of the Vendor Management process and tools

  • Identifies potential areas of risk, escalates in appropriate forums, and provides general guidance on preventative actions

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with business partners

  • Clearly communicate vendor program fundamentals to PPD employees utilizing vendors

  • Advocate customer service oriented mindset while working with VMO members and internal business unit team


Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5 years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education, training, & experience.

  • 1 year of leadership responsibility

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of audit, compliance, or quality related principles (highly-regulated industry experience desired)

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, to various levels within and outside the organization

  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize appropriately

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with good understanding of organizational dynamics

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills for analysis and presentation of data

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
