PPD Corporate Communications Associate Manager in Wilmington, North Carolina

This position will support the Associate Director, Corporate Communications, in managing strategic and tactical communications initiatives for designated company leaders and their respective teams. The position will also assist with corporate wide communications efforts, develop executive messaging and help plan employee outreach events for leaders. This position has responsibility for creating content for the company’s intranet.

  • Serves as a communication partner to senior leaders and their teams.

  • Writes, edits and manages the review and distribution of communications to position the company positively with internal and external audiences.

  • Ensures brand consistency is maintained throughout all messaging.

  • Develops corporate and business unit news content for the intranet.

  • Advises functional and cross-functional teams on communications and intranet.

  • Coordinates with the digital team to optimize content display and ensure communication timelines are met.

  • Manages corporate communications projects of small to medium scope within prescribed time and budget guidelines.

It is strongly preferred that the individual have strong writing skills and experience planning, developing and executing communications for business segments, functional groups and/or corporate initiatives. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and extensive knowledge of Associated Press (AP) Style are preferred.

Ideal candidate will have experience with SharePoint or other content management systems, including HTML-based content management systems and PhotoShop. Individuals should demonstrate ability to work independently as well as effectively with colleagues at all levels of the company.

Sample duties will include:

  • Writing, editing and managing the review process for company wide communications

  • Participating in logistics planning, communications and/or content for corporate wide events

  • Using creativity to develop novel approaches, methods and designs for internal communications

  • Working with communications and marketing colleagues to develop internal communications in support of external initiatives or programs

  • Writing and editing content for company’s intranet, working with various internal stakeholders. Content may include news articles, opinion pieces, videos, infographics, etc.

  • Developing PowerPoint presentations for company leaders

  • Posting information and news to the corporate pages of the employee intranet



    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or journalism preferred or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2-5 years’ in communications or marketing, with proficiency in internal communications) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and extensive knowledge of applying Associate Press (AP) Style.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Proven planning, organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to work independently, make good decisions and apply sound judgment

  • Strong experience in corporate brand and product positioning

    Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.

  • Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international.

    Physical Demands:

  • Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.

  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.

  • Frequent mobility required.

  • Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.

  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.

  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
