This position has access to and knowledge of extremely sensitive, private and confidential materials. Ability to maintain the highest standard is required with zero tolerance. All the primary duties within this document will be performed according to established policies, procedures and guidelines within the department and the Medical Center. JOB SUMMARY: The Advanced EMT provides high quality patient care and safe medical transport to sick and injured patients in all age groups. Develops a plan of care for each patient that is consistent with approved treatment protocols, policies and procedures. Responsible for the operation of emergency vehicles. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: Initiates a plan of care based on patient assessment and significant other input/data. Continuously reviews and revises plan as needed per patient's condition. Maintains thorough patient care documentation. Operates and maintains the vehicle in a safe, efficient manner, obeying all traffic laws. Properly inspects the vehicle and medical supplies/equipment. Initiates appropriate actions based on inspections. Maintains ambulance in a continuous state of readiness. Completes daily base duties as well as all mandatory education/training. Stays current with NHRMC and department specific communications (i.e. emails, staff meetings, communication boards, etc.). Promotes team effort and unity when working with NHC Communications Center, external public safety agencies and other health care providers. Annually continues personal development to enhance practice and profession. Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently, completing all paperwork within required time frames. May perform moderate or waived point of care testing per CLIA guidelines. Consistently demonstrates professional behavior and performs proactive interventions which support the Mission, Vision and Values of NHRMC and this department. Responds to patient complaints. Will occasionally provide back up service to the Specialty Care Transport Division. Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence. Performs other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS: 1. Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Successful completion of an accepted EMT program. 2. Licensure / Certifications: Current North Carolina Advanced EMT (or eligible for reciprocity). (EMT-Intermediate prior to 2017.) BCLS required. ACLS, PALS and ITLS or PHTLS preferred. Current and valid driver's license required and must the meet requirements of the Medical Center's Insurance carrier. Must meet general hospital driving requirements. EVO is required to drive during emergency situations. 3. Experience: Prefer at least one-year experience with a paid EMS provider at the Advanced EMT or EMT-I level.
