USMC Light Tactical Vehicle Operations Instructor/FSR - NSWC Crane-Jacksonville, NC (Job Number:436448)
In support of NSWC Crane, SAIC will be supporting the USMC Light Tactical Vehicle program.
SAIC will maintain Instructors at three strategic locations in order to perform Operator New Equipment Training (NET) for both the Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) Active and Reserve components; CONUS and OCONUS in support of I, II, and III MEF. The Instructors shall conduct and facilitate training for Marines and Government personnel.
The Instructors shall apply best practices and techniques of vocational instruction.
Instructors shall be proficient in executing/implementing the tactical vehicle training program, to include driving the tactical vehicle.
In addition to operational course instruction, tasks may include but are not limited to:
Accounting for fuel and POL costs and consumption
Managing training materials reproduction costs
Tracking course student throughput/class fill rates
Managing class scheduling and execution
Conducting Instructor management
Administering End of Course Critiques to Students
Completing After Instruction Reports (AIRs)
Administering Post-Graduate and Supervisor surveys
Completing Test Item Analysis/Examination Scores
Compiling feedback from the operational forces
Tracking course consumables
Ensuring vehicles are operational (organizational level), serviceable, and BII complete
Identifying and recommending improvements to the training program, as required
Identifying and recommending improvements to the written and practical examinations, as required
Identifying Technical Manual impacts to training. Each location will maintain a 6-person team, which will facilitate all training aspects at that respective location. Position may require both CONUS/OCONUS travel.
Successful completion of a Tactical Vehicle Operator Trainer Course.
Demonstrated experience with driving, operating, and maintaining an LTV with all associated BII tools and support equipment. Must be able to provide artifacts/documentation that verifies previous certifications and credentials.
Instructors must be physically fit in order to perform associated tasks, such as heavy lifting, driving off-road, and egress of the LTV through the egress/roof hatch in the event of vehicle rollover.
Knowledge of military wheeled vehicle maintenance processes, policies, culture, operation, and training.
Knowledge of parts, materials, and processes related to electrical and mechanical components.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).
Ability to use various hand, power-driven, and specialty tools.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Available for a flexible work schedule, including extended or weekend hours, sometimes on short notice, to include holidays as needed.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to meet all OCONUS location- specific requirements as outlined by DoD 4500.54- G, Foreign Clearance Guide.
Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days, an active DoD Secret security clearance.
Minimum (3) years’ experience as a LTV Operational Instructor strongly preferred
Minimum (3) years’ experience as a USMC motor vehicle mechanic or manager strongly preferred
Knowledge of quality systems (e.g., inspection process, company quality procedures)
Knowledge of product maintenance processes, tools, troubleshooting techniques, and standards
Prior Military operational instructor experience in a formal training environment
Must be able to pass DOT Medical Exam.
Ability to lift and carry 80 lbs unassisted for short distances.
Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, and ramps while carrying up to 40 lbs.
Ability to work in small, cramped spaces.
Ability to perform required job duties outdoors in conditions that may include extreme high and low temperatures, rain, snow, and high winds.
Ability to sit for extended periods while traveling in an off- road vehicle.
Ability to stand and walk without rest for at least two (2) hours.
Ability to bend and/or twist legs, arms, and body within normal range of motion.
- High School Diploma and five (5) years of related experience.
